Please refer to the long list of people who have gotten into trouble because they decided to ride on certain true reports but used them for the wrong purposes.

So this is no defence for you at all, and this is the law.

It does not matter if you quoted true media reports or not, all the law needs to do is to prove the lack of goodwill and intent to smear the Aussies on your part, as well as acting in a way that endangers the peace between Singapore and Australia as well as offending the Australian Singaporean community you are already well on your way to being convicted liao.

By all measures, your threads and replies in here, as well as you carrying on long after the Singaporean Australians told you that they did not take to your views kindly are more then enough to get you into hot soup.

For example, if you decided to find every media article on the Malay community (ie. crimes and social problems caused by them) and keep posting them here as part of a "truth" finding mission trying to put a negative spin on them, as well as keeping this up long after people tell you that it is uncalled for and tactless, see how fast your butt will land in the slammer.

The authorities could easily convict you of a great many things should people decide to highlight your activities to them. In fact, PMs have been passed around regarding you and requesting information on your activities, so you really should be careful on your next step in here.

I tell you, given the "justifications" you have posted for your activities here, they won't even stand up one minute in the court of law, and that is a fact.

Is the PAP's POV the one and only accurate account? It is the same as making a film about the 2005 Bali bombings from the sole viewpoint of the Australians.

No doubt having Zahari's take is sensitive, but we need to know all sides of the story to form a well-rounded conclusion.

Anyway my take:

Agreed with the fairness point laserlord brought up. However can't blame goverment also. Consider zahari. He will be all out the put himself in good light, after all this while. It is only normal that he will tend to go to the extremes.

Hence even with zahari's side of the story, it may not be fair too as his video may be too, unfair.

So in the end, back to square one.

You see, the govt has the freedom to put his own point of view out. So by allowing Zahari's story to be told, it's comparatively balanced.

When you listen to his tale, you will understand why he is so emotional.

In most cases, for us laymen, the truth always lies in between. But the issue here is that the government is intent on making us listen to their version as the holy truth.

If you want to build up Singapore into a mature nation, this is not the way to go. I've said so many times, ideology should not get in the way of pragmatism, especially when we want to become an information hub, yet there is this anachronism in place that only serves to make us a laughing stock abroad, in places where we ARE COMPETING with for talent and expatriates.

Does this advance the cause of national growth? No. Definitely not. What you will get are materialistic immigrants and expats who may be less socially mature because they are willing to accept that financial success is the only benchmark, and not other forms of benchmarks that measure a society like socio-cultural freedom and political maturity.

I wonder if remaking Singapore actually works when you have things like these happening. It's bad enough to log into Newsnow and see a whole page of links showing international newspapers and EU papers slamming us for either banning their MPs from talking at a forum on international democracy and liberalism, and in the words of MP Samuelson, "threatening them with arrest".

Gee, it's damn hurtful to see Singapore ripped apart in the foreign arena for things that we ordinary citizens didn't do, and it's we laymen who suffer when we go abroad for visits and business.

They should really think long and hard, and logically too.

Poor lionnoisy, he does not know that the mods will not tell you if you have crossed any red lines. They will simply report your behaviour to the relevant authorities if it's illegal, or simply ban you one day.

Lol, I am waiting for the day that lionnoisy will appear in the courts for sedition charges, saying that he's remorseful and actually has a lot of Aussie friends and loves Australia begging for a lighter sentence.

I believe lionnoisy thinks that his "I'm speaking whatever is really reported in the media" is a good defence that will save him from all trouble.

I would like to point out to him a very recent case in which two people were arrested and fined in our country even though their main defence was that they were telling truths that had been widely reported in the media.

Since his such a sniffer for media reports, prehaps he could easily search our Straits Times and find the relevant article.

Bottom line, media reports or no media reports, keep up his mission to smear the Australians (and he has already done that) by his tasteless posts and he'll end up like the two Falun Gong members here.

And I'd love to see how quickly his "but I'm stating true media reports" defence will fail.

The government's ban is just the single best advertisement for the film.

If there isn't a ban, news will just briefly report it and most singaporeans will not even care.

Now there is a ban, and with all the background informations u can find online, it seems like there is something true thats needs to be hidden from the public.

And if he puts on Youtube, what can the gov do?

What a wicked way to advertise isn't it. Increasing the demand, and then you have more Singaporeans logging on, maybe upgrading their plans, thus earning Singnet a lot of money.
